Bitton House 07/06/25

Reported Activity

Reports of feeling uneasy, lights have turned on and off with no explained reason, footsteps and voices can be heard. An angry male is said to wonder the building! Materials related to witchcraft were found in a tree outside.

History

Bitton house formerly known as west cliff house is a grade II listed building, once home to Admiral Sir Edward Pellew, also known as the 1st Viscount Exmouth. Now head quarters to Teignmouth town council. An underground tunnel found at a nearby location as theory is that it formed as part of a cellar system of a demolished wing of Bitton House. There is not much history known about the land however Teignmouth has a rich history dating back to Roman times! What was on the land before this beautiful building was constructed.

St Nicholas Priory 26/07/25

Reported Activity

With so much history, it's no surprise that the priory is haunted. What will you encounter. Could it be the spirit of the man of the cloth, who is said to be angry! Reports of noises from the kitchen and the smell of tobacco. On previous visits, we have had amazing spirit box communications, interaction with all equipment, and a spirit who doesn't like women in one of the rooms!

History

Once a Benedictine Monastery is now a museum. A Grade 1 listed building, located in Exeter city centre.

St. Nicholas Priory, a Benedictine monastery, was founded in 1087. In the 12th and 13th centuries, the Priory gathered gifts of land and property, and new monastic buildings were erected as funds permitted. Monks provided hospitality for pilgrims and other travellers with accommodation for important guests. The Priory had a very important and lively life within the city until the dissolution of the smaller monasteries by King Henry VIII in 1536, when the monks were pensioned off and their church and cloisters were pulled down. Between 1575 and 1602, the building was turned into an impressive Elizabethan townhouse. The priory was brought in 1913 to restore it to show the original monastic architecture and opened it in 1916 as a small museum. Today, I am still serving as a museum, furnished as an Elizabethan townhouse.
